NORMAN, Okla. -- Former Sooner Kevin Bookout placed 10th in the U.S. Olympic Trials shot put finals Sunday at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore.
Bookout's first throw of 62 feet, 6 ½ inches (19.06 meters) was his best attempt.
Reese Hoffa, Ryan Whiting and Christian Cantwell finished as the top three and will represent Team USA at the Olympics in London. Hoffa's third attempt was a world-leading distance of 72-2 ¼ (22.00).
OU senior Alexandra Acker was one of 12 who did not clear the opening height in the women's pole vault final.
Jennifer Suhr, who placed first at 15-1 (4.60), Becky Holliday and Lacy Janson were the Olympic team qualifiers.
Former Sooner Mookie Salaam announced his plans to withdraw from the men's 200-meter dash due to a hamstring injury, ending his competition at the Trials. One of America's top sprinters, Salaam struggled in his 100-meter preliminary Saturday -- his first race since suffering the injury -- and finished 29th of 33 participants.
Former Sooner Toni Smith and OU seniors George Alex and Luke Bryant compete in the meet Monday. Bryant is entered in the men's discus throw that starts at 5:30 p.m. Central, Smith will compete in the women's triple jump final at 7:45 p.m. and Alex will race the men's 5000-meter qualifier at 9 p.m.
Monday's two-hour live television coverage begins at 8 p.m on NBC Sports Network.
