San Diego, Calif. - The OU women's soccer team lost 3-0 on Sunday afternoon in a non-conference contest against the San Diego Toreros in San Diego, Calif. The Sooners only managed one shot the entire contest, while San Diego recorded 15. The Toreros' offense was opportunistic, recording goals on all three of their shots on goal.

"It is kind of frustrating because I feel like we are playing well," said OU head coach Randy Evans. "We did some things well today, but they punished us for our mistakes. They capitalized on every mistake. They scored three great goals, but other than that our defense played well."

Defenders Christen Secrest and Ashlee Richmond had strong performances helping to limit San Diego's shots on goal. Goalkeepers Ayn Toppin and Jana Cunningham played one half each and allowed one and two goals, respectively.

"Our defenders played real well today," said Evans. "We also got a very good performance from freshman Jennifer Enos. Other than their goals, we pretty much kept the pressure off our goalies."

San Diego was led by Alison Benoit, a transfer from Florida, who recorded three shots and a goal. She recorded the game-winning goal with a header off a corner kick 27:12 into the contest. The Toreros had eight separate players record shots.

"Alison Benoit had a huge impact on the game," said Evans. "She scored on a beautiful header that was the game winner. San Diego was very strong and had some skillful players."

The Sooners, now 1-5, play next at SMU on Thursday in Dallas. The Mustangs return nine starters from a team that went 9-10 last year.
