NORMAN, Okla. - The University of Oklahoma women's soccer team and Iowa State battled to a scoreless tie Friday in a Big 12 soccer match at the OU Soccer Compex in front of 430 fans. The game left the Sooners at 9-3-1 overall and 3-2-1 in the conference while the Cyclones stand at 3-8-1 and 1-4-1 in the Big 12.
Oklahoma pressured the Cyclones throughout the game, outshooting Iowa State, 27-8, but the play of ISU's defense and goalkeeper Karen Hasselman (12 saves) forced the game to a tie.
The Sooners were led by junior forwards Shannon Wing and Krissy Dawson (three shots on goal each) and freshman goalkeeper Catherine Wade. Wade (6-1-1) tallied five saves, picked up her third conference shutout and extended her scoreless streak to 390:10 minutes.
"Despite the outcome, I was thrilled with our level of play," said OU Head Coach Randy Evans. "The midweek game against Baylor may have taken away some of our sharpness, but we need to be more disciplined in our ability to finish off shots."
Oklahoma remained undefeated (6-0-1) and unscored upon (22-0) this year at home.
OU hosts No. 5 Nebraska Sunday at 1 p.m. in its next conference game.
