NORMAN, Okla.-- Entering the day in a tie for 13th place, the University of Oklahoma women's golf team shot a final-round 307 (+16) to finish in a tie for seventh at the 16-team "Mo" Morial Invitational in College Station, Texas, today.

OU's Sunday effort on the par-72, 6,225-yard Traditions Golf Club Course was its best of the tournament and was the fourth best round posted of the day.

Junior Heather Wright bounced back from a second-round 85 (+13) on Saturday with a 75 (+3) today to land in a tie for 26th.  Freshman Chelsey Collins led the Sooners in the final round, carding a 73 (+1) and finished in a 34th-place tie.  Collins' third-round score was OU's lowest of the tournament.

"I am so proud of our performance today," OU head coach Carol Ludvigson said. "Chelsey and Heather did phenomenal and we turned in a great round to pull up to a top-10 finish."

Junior Kelly Jacques shot a final-round 79 (+7) to finish in a tie for 43rd place while seniors Megan Goodwin and Jaclyn Stelzer tied for 59th place after each recorded a three-round 247 (+31). Redshirt freshman Ryanne Elmer, who was competing unattached to team scoring, finished in a tie for 75th after shooting an 81 (+9) today.  It was Elmer's best round of the tournament.

"Our ability to bounce back at this tournament will carry over to the next," Ludvigson said. "We will be heading into Austin (Texas) with great confidence. We're ready for the challenge."

Arizona State won the event by 11 strokes with a score of 893 (+29).  Tournament medalist Paola Moreno of USC fired an even-par 72 in the final round to finish the tournament with a score of 216 (E).
