TEMPE, Okla. - The University of Oklahoma men's golf team shot a final-round 285 (-3) Saturday afternoon to finish 12th at the ASU Thunderbird/SAVANE Invitational at Karsten Golf Course (Par-72, 7.027 yards). The Sooners finished the tournament with a total of 856 (-8) while Texas won the team championship with a combined 832 (-32).

Leading the Sooners for the second straight tournament was senior Cody Freeman (Arnett, Okla.), who notched his third top-10 finish of the season tying for 10th. Freeman carded a final-round 71 (-1) good for a total of 209 (-7). With this finish, he has led the Sooners in three tournaments this year including the Morris Williams Intercollegiate (T9th) and The Ping/Golfweek Preview (T9th).

Junior Matt Cohn (La Jolla, Calif.) shot the lowest round for OU Saturday firing a two-under 70. Cohn finished tied for 29th a with final score 213 (-3). Three shots back was junior John Kidwell (Dallas, Texas), who shot a final-round 72 (E) and tied for 42nd at even-par (216).

Sophomore Martin Flores (Mansfield, Texas) also shot even-par Saturday to finish tied for 57th with a total of 219 (+3) while sophomore Blake Martin (Stigler, Okla.) rounded out the scoring for the Sooners with a 74 to tie for 77th.

The Sooners have over two weeks to prepare for the Big 12 Conference Championship which will be held on Monday-Tuesday, April 29-30, at Prairie Dunes Country Club in Hutchinson, Kan. The championship will be a total of 54 holes played over two days, with 36 holes the first day and 18 holes the second day.
