NORMAN, Okla. - The University of Oklahoma men's golf team was ranked 10th today by the Golf Coaches Association of America as the GCAA released its coaches polls today. It marked the second time in a week that the Sooners garnered a top-10 ranking. Last Saturday, Golfweek and Jeff Sagarin named OU the third-ranked team in the nation with a rating of 69.29.

In the Golfweek rankings, the Sooners only trailed TCU and Southern California, who also finished ahead of OU at The Ridges Intercollegiate. Individually, sophomore Martin Flores was also ranked No. 3 in the nation by Golfweek following an impressive third-place showing at The Ridges. Senior J.D. Robertson was ranked 41st after tying for 13th.

The GCAA polls rank the top 25 teams in Divisions I, II and III according to GCAA member coaches. Each GCAA member coach is eligible to rank the top 25 teams in his/her respective division. Ballots for the fall 2001 preseason polls were sent to coaches who were GCAA members in the 2000-01 academic year. The Golfweek/Sagarin rankings are based off of power rating, schedule strength, schedule rank, records and events played.

OU will be looking to improve its rankings even more tommorrow as the Sooners tee off at the Ping/Golfweek Preview in Columbus, Ohio, at The Ohio State University Scarlet Course. Tee times are set for 9 a.m.
