NORMAN, Okla. -- The University of Oklahoma track and field teams open the 2012 outdoor season this weekend, March 16-17, at the Tulsa Duels. Action begins Friday at 1 p.m. CT in Stillwater with the hammer throw. The javelin is scheduled for Friday evening at 7 p.m. CT in Tulsa. Action resumes in Tulsa on Saturday at 9 a.m. CT.

Rylee Rackley (hammer), Angel Togafau (hammer) and Ashley Kowalewski (javelin) compete on the women’s side during Friday events, while Holden Mitchell makes his outdoor debut in the men’s hammer throw. Conrad Aaron and Luke Bryant compete in the discus Saturday morning at 9 a.m. CT. Bryant is a three-time scorer in the discus at the Big 12 meet and won the conference title in 2009.

Brittany Borman, the 2011 national champion in the javelin, opens her season in the discus throw Saturday morning. Also competing in the event are Lauren Guerrieri, Alex Morgan, Karen Shump and Bailey Wagner.

Borman has won two straight Big 12 Conference javelin and discus titles. Shump was a conference scorer in the event in 2011.

Following this weekend, the Sooners travel to the Bobby Lane Invitational in Arlington, Texas March 23-24.
