DENTON, Texas - The 17th-ranked University of Oklahoma volleyball team closed out the North Texas Invitational Saturday afternoon with a sweep of Sam Houston State (-25, -21, -16). The Sooners (6-1) hit .278 and out-blocked the Bearkats 8.0-4.0 in the win.

Suzy Boulavsky led the Sooners with 11 kills, hitting .360 with just two attack errors in 25 attempts. Grace Whitley added eight kills, hitting .333 and was a big contributor on defense with five total blocks, including two block solos.

Sallie McLaurin also added eight kills, committing just one attack error in 18 attempts to hit .389 on the afternoon. Brianne Barker paced the offense with 33 assists and six digs and six kills. Maria Fernanda had 16 digs to lead OU.

Tara Dunn recorded five kills in two sets played. Dunn also came up with three total blocks, including one block solo.

The first set was a back-and-forth affair with 16 ties and four lead changes. Despite the seven ties and four lead changes in the second set, OU pulled away late for a 2-0 lead in the match. The Sooners dominated the third set to take the win.

Boulavsky and Barker were named to the all-tournament team. Boulavsky hit .342 on the weekend, leading Oklahoma with 3.50 kills per set. Barker averaged 9.40 assists and 2.70 digs as the Sooners hit .239 in three matches.

Oklahoma returns to action Tuesday evening against Arkansas. First serve is set for 7 p.m. CT at McCasland Field House.
