Return to Recap

Head Coach Bob Stoops

"My congratulations to Miami, Coach Shannon and his team. I thought they played a tough, hard fought game, played well and made the plays down the stretch that made the difference. I told my team after that we have to find a way in the fourth quarter, that we need to make a couple plays better, whether it is on defense or offense. Either way we need to keep pushing for that. I'm proud of my team. I still really believe in my team, they're a good group to see everyday."

On the defense not getting Miami off field like in the BYU game...
"There is no denying that, it was very evident. We couldn't come up with the play that needed to happen. Again, credit Miami. I thought they did a nice job executing to make those plays. Yes, it was a similar situation."

On the play of QB Landry Jones...
"He was excellent. I though he handled everything as well as he could, in a really good way. The one fumble was a protection breakdown. He can't do anything about that, when you're blindsided. I thought he was excellent tonight."

Status of WR Ryan Broyles...
"They believe that he fractured his shoulder blade. That's what it appears to be. We will get a clearer picture tomorrow. If that is the case, we are looking at a four-to-six week injury."

On losing playmakers...
"Well I'm not going to sit here and accept it. It makes things more challenging and different. As I told the team, were not going to sit here and talk about that's why we can't win. In the end, we have to be able to overcome injuries, regardless of who they are. As I said, we have eight Big 12 games coming in a row and they aren't changing, so we have got to find a way to overcome it."

On the defensive effort besides the last drive...
"Just okay. I felt we could have played a little bit better. But again, that's not fair to and by no means do I want to take anything away from Miami. They did an excellent job in all phases of the game. They are well coached and their players played hard and it was a well played game."

On whether or not he was surprised by Miami's run offense...
"No. They do a really nice job of mixing it up. They make you work to understand where your gap responsibilities have to be. A time or two we got out of those and other times they executed well. We knew coming in, their backs were awfully good and they did a nice job sticking with it and making some yards."

On the play of Miami QB Jacory Harris...
"They did a nice job of working a lot of intermediate and short throws and mixing it up that way. He executed it well. Again, not surprising, we thought coming in that he was a good quarterback and he showed it."

DT Gerald McCoy

On Miami's ability to run the ball...
"Miami can run the ball. It was our job to stop them and we didn't do that."

On Oklahoma's inability to get off the field on the last drive...
"We needed a stop and we didn't get it. They put the game in our hands and we just didn't take advantage. We didn't do what we were supposed to do."

On the disappointment of the last drive...
"It hurts, but that's on us. That means we just got to come out, work harder and get better next week."

QB Landry Jones

On whether losing Ryan Broyles affected the offense...
"No, I think Mossis [Madu] stepped up in a big way for us. He came through in a lot of situations and I think Mossis did a good job."

On whether he felt like the offense was ever in rhythm...
"I felt at times we had a good flow and rhythm. Once we got across the 50, penalties hurt us a little bit, but in the end, we didn't come up with it."

On the team's mindset...
"Oh, I'm sure we're disappointed. Everyone's disappointed in the loss, no one likes to lose here. We just got to get ready for Baylor next week, and come out there and play our hardest and take care of business."

On fumbling after the Brandon Harris sack...
"Turnovers are key in this game. If you turn it over in the 20-yard line, that's obviously not putting your defense in a good spot. I needed to squeeze it up when I got hit; that one's on me."
