PHILADELPHIA, Pennsylvania - Numerous members of the women's track and field squad participated in the first day of the 105th running of the Penn Relays in Philadelphia, Pa. today. In addition to the women's 4x100m-relay team and 4x400m-relay teams freshman Sande' Swaby, sophomore Andrea DeLozier and junior Mindy Mizell competed in individual events. The women's 4x100m-relay team of Alicia Emanuel, Jimyria Hicks, Jennifer Fontenot and Staneshia Bell clocked a time of 45.96, the 16th fastest preliminary time. Bell, Fontenot, Emanuel and Kelly O'Rourke comprised the 4x400m-relay squad which ran a time of 3:46.37 to finish sixth in the prelims.
In the finals of the women's high jump Swaby earned runner-up honors with her career-best leap of 5-7.75. The mark stands as the eighth-best in school history. DeLozier finished in 42nd in the 5000m with her time of 18:00.13, while Mizell posted a time of 10:02.11 to take 25th in the 3000m.
The meet continues tomorrow with several of OU's men's and women's relay teams in action. Sooner throwers and vaulters will be in Des Moines, Iowa tomorrow as well to participate in the Drake Relays.
