WILLLIAMSBURG, Va. -- The Sooners tied Virginia Commonwealth on Sunday at the Tribe Invitational after 120 minutes of scoreless action.
Oklahoma remains unbeaten in 2007 and stands at 3-0-1 overall. VCU improved to 1-2-1.
"We were not very sharp today," added Evans. "The team looked tired, but that is the challenge we have to face on the road.
"Our defense was solid, but we have to stay more consistent on both ends of the field."
In its first meeting against VCU, OU surrendered 17 shots with a majority of the Rams' chances coming from outside the 20.
The Sooners were blanked for the first time in 2007 and finished the game with five shots. Two of those came from freshman Whitney Palmer, who left the game in the second half due to injury.
Senior goalkeeper Jenny Nichols recorded her first shutout of the season to accompany her season-high eight saves. Nichols has posted 15 shutouts over her career, three shy from tying the all-time record held by Catherine Wade.
Nichols, freshman Ashley Bolden and senior captain Lauren Harris were named to the all-tournament team.
The Sooners will return to action next weekend on the road to battle Long Beach State (Sept. 14) and Cal State Fullerton (Sept. 16).
