NORMAN, Okla. - The University of Oklahoma volleyball team returns to action Wednesday evening, facing the Kansas Jayhawks in a 6 p.m. CT contest at the Horejsi Family Athletics Center in Lawrence. A webcast and GameTracker are available at SoonerSports.com.
A LOOK AT OKLAHOMA AS A TEAM
Oklahoma is seeking its 15th 20-win season and fourth under Santiago Restrepo (2010, 2007, 2006).
OU has the lowest service aces allowed (0.84) and blocks per set allowed in the Big 12 this year (1.75).
Oklahoma is second in the league in blocks per set allowed (1.92) in conference matches only.
OU has hit .350 or better in 25 sets this year, including five sets in conference matches.
OU is 13-2 at home this year, matching its best home winning percentage in the last eight years at .867 (13-2) in 2006.
OU has dropped four straight matches for the first time since Nov. 18-Dec. 4, 2009.
Oklahoma is 4-6 in its last 10 matches and has dropped four of its last five.
A LOOK AT OKLAHOMA INDIVIDUALLY
Sallie McLaurin leads the league with 1.45 bps in conference matches and is second with 1.36 bps in all matches.
McLaurin needs just five block assists to surpass her single season record set last year.
Tara Dunn is second on the team with 2.97 kills per set and ranks 10th in the league in the category.
María Fernanda (1,554) became the Oklahoma career digs leader on Oct. 15 (Melissa Peterson, 1,436 from 1994-97).
She needs 35 to break her single season record set a year ago.
Fernanda is third in the league with 5.00 digs per overall and second with 5.17 per set in Big 12 matches only.
Suzy Boulavsky leads OU with 3.36 kps and is second on the team with 77 block assists, fifth most in a season at OU.
Brianne Barker continues to climb OU's career assists list. She recently moved into third on the list (4,431).
Barker is one of five players in OU history to rank in the top four of two or more career categories.
The others include Patrice Arrington, Gloria Holcomb, Joanna Schmitt and Peterson.
OU has four players ranked in the top 100 in the nation in their respective categories (page 7).
A LOOK AT THE SERIES HISTORY
Oklahoma leads the all-time series with Kansas 45-29. The Jayhawks lead 17-14 in matches played in Lawrence.
The two teams have split the annual series in each of the last four years. OU was the last team to sweep (2006).
OU has won six of the last 10 meetings. Kansas has won eight of the last 10 in Lawrence.
The home team has won its contest in three of the last four years. Last year was the exception.
