Matt Cohn Selected to Verizon Academic All-America Team

NORMAN, Okla. - University of Oklahoma golfer Matt Cohn (La Jolla, Calif.) was one of 10 student-athletes named to the 2001 Verizon Academic All-District VI Men's University Spring At-Large First Team. The sophomore from La Jolla, Calif., was the only underclassman on the first team.

Cohn is a psychology major with an overall grade point average of 3.94. He was also named to the 2001 Academic All-Big 12 First Team as well as the 2001 All-Big 12 Men's Golf Team. He currently has a stroke average of 74.08 having played in every tournament this season for the 16th-ranked Sooners. He has led OU in four tournaments this season, including the first outing of the season at The Ridges Intercollegiate where he tied for third place. He also helped the Sooners to a tournament victory at the Windon Memorial Classic by tying for fourth place.

District VI is comprised of schools from the states of Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas. The team was selected by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America from District VI.
