WAIKOLOA, Hawaii Anthony Kim recorded a career-low round of 66 during the final day of the Taylor Made Waikoloa Intercollegiate to finish tied for 11th, individually.
The No. 25/45 University of Oklahoma men’s golf team shot its finest round of the season, 277, but its wasn’t enough to move them up the leaderboard as they finished 18th overall. OU’s three-round score was 845 (-19).
No. 3 Oklahoma State won the tournament, with a score of 801, at 63 under par. The Cowboys had three players in the top five as Tyler Leon (195, -21) won the individual title and teammates Alex Noren (198, -18) and Ryan Posey (199, -19) tied for second and fourth, respectively.
Kim (La Quinta, Calif.) also carded a career-best three-round total of 203 (-13). The sophomore has led the Sooners in three of four tournaments played in the 2004-2005 season.
Jordi Garca (Castillo, Spain) and Shawn LaFontaine (Cobourg, Ontario) were the next Sooners on the scoreboard, both tied for 68th. The pair shot their best rounds of the tournament, firing 68s (-4) on the last day to bring their cumulative score to 214 (-2).
Carlos Del Moral (Valencia, Spain) and Craig Lurie (Houston, Texas), 64th and 72nd, respectively, after the second round, fell into a tie for 99th after the final 18 holes. Del Moral, 76 (+ 4), and Lurie, 75 (+3), shot their only over-par rounds of the tournament Friday, finishing with a score of 219 (+3).
The Sooners have two weeks off before traveling to San Juan, Puerto Rico, for the Puerto Rico Classic hosted by Purdue University. The tournament begins Sunday, Feb. 27, and ends Tuesday, March 1.
