NORMAN, Okla. -- Caton Hill is one of the most recognizable players in Oklahoma women's basketball history. An Ada, Oklahoma native, Hill came to OU in 2000 and was a key ingredient to OU's success during the 2000-04 seasons.
She was a four-year letter winner and a starter who became the only OU player, male or female, to score more than 1,500 points, grab 1,000 plus rebounds and pocket 200 or more steals in a career. She currently ranks in Oklahoma's all-time best in 20-of-22 categories.
Hill was not only a stand-out on the court, but she was a stand-out in the classroom. She graduated from OU in 2004 with a degree in zoology, a minor in the history of science and an acceptance letter to the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine.
After graduation Hill joined the Army and began the path of becoming a doctor in August of 2004. Now entering her fourth year of med school, Hill is leaving her mark at the Health Science Center just like she did in Norman.
During the 2005-06 school year she served as the secretary for the medical school. She then continued in leadership, taking on the role as president this past year. As president she serves as the face of OU and represents them in campus wide meetings.
"It is a lot like student council," said Hill. "We are there to help improve the school and make changes during our time on campus."
Hill is also assisting in the recruitment of future students to OUHSC. She is the featured speaker in an online video for prospective students on the OUHSC Web site (www.ouhsc.edu).
After the completion of med school Hill will begin her residency training; where she plans to specialize in orthopedic surgery, an area she is no stranger to. Hill tore her ACL while at OU and has seen first hand the trauma college athletics can inflict on the body.
Hill will then repay the Army and serve, hoping to someday return to her roots.
"It is a long time away," said Hill. "But I still have a love for sports and someday I would like to get back to Norman." More Where Are They Now Features
