NORMAN, Okla-- The University of Oklahoma women’s golf team will travel to College Station, Texas, to compete in the 54-hole "Mo"Morial Invitational March 9-11. The Texas A&M-hosted tournament will be played on the 6,255-yard, par-72 Traditions Golf Club course.
After adding a third top-six finish this season at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic, the Sooners look to continue their strong play with a lineup featuring Kelly Jacques, Heather Wright, Chelsey Collins, Megan Goodwin and Jaclyn Stelzer. Ryanne Elmer will be competing unattached from team scoring.
"We are very excited about this tournament and the field," OU head coach Carol Ludvigson said. "This will be a huge head-to-head for us within our Central District."
Joining OU in 16-team field will be Arizona State, Denver, Iowa State, Kansas State, Missouri, Oklahoma State, Redlands College, USC, South Carolina, Texas, Texas A&M, UTEP, Tulsa and UCLA.
The Sooners return to the "Mo" Morial Invitational after turning in a top-five individual finish at the tournament last spring with a team score of 943. Jacques finished as the top Sooner in a tie for eighth place with a three-round 230.
"This golf course is very difficult and we played it very well last year," Ludvigson said. "Kelly has been playing so well and Heather and Chelsey are really coming around. Now we need the bottom of our lineup to post some low scores. This is the beginning of our journey up the mountain."
OU will begin first-round action Friday at 8 a.m.
