NORMAN, Okla. The Oklahoma baseball team hit the field for four weeks of fall team practice on Monday at L. Dale Mitchell Park. Workouts are scheduled throughout the four week period with several intrasquad games planned each week. Practices are scheduled to start at approximately 2:30 p.m. with all sessions and intrasquad games being open to the public.
The Sooners opened fall practice with 22 newcomers and welcomed back 12 members off a 2004 squad which went 38-24 overall and 19-8 in Big 12 Conference play, finished second in the league and hosted a NCAA Tournament Regional.
Following the team’s first workout, head coach Larry Cochell was impressed with his latest group of Sooners.
“We’ve got a great squad this year. We’ve got a good mix of veteran leadership with a talented group of newcomers,” Cochell commented. “We’re very excited about our newcomers and how athletic they are.”
The squad began the semester with five weeks of individual workouts and conditioning sessions leading into their first month of team practice. The fall season will end with the annual Red-White intrasquad series during the final week of practice.
