Martin Flores In Second At Taylor Made Red River Classic

DALLAS, Texas - OU sophomore Martin Flores (Mansfield, Texas) tied a career-low firing a second-round 67 to gain sole possession of second place at the Taylor Made Red River Classic at the Dallas Athletic Club (6,766 yards, par 72) on Monday. He finished out the first day's action with the lowest two-round total of his career at Oklahoma (136, -8) and is five shots behind tournament leader Jason Hartwick of Texas. Flores and the rest of the University of Oklahoma men's golf team shot rounds of 286 and 278 for a total of 564 (-12). OU currently stands in third place with one round left to play and are six strokes off the lead held by the University of Texas.

Junior Parker Foster (Tulsa, Okla.) improved on a first-round score of 72 with a 71 to stand tied for 24th at one-under (143). One shot back is junior John Kidwell (Dallas, Texas), who remained steady throughout the afternoon with two rounds of 72 and is tied for 29th.

Senior J.D. Robertson (Little Rock, Ark.) and senior Cody Freeman (Arnett, Okla.) concluded the second round with identical scores of 145 (+1). Robertson came back strong after a shaky first round to shoot the low-round for OU on the day (68).

Oklahoma had four individuals competing at the tournament and they were led by junior Matt Cohn (La Jolla, Calif.), who shot a 147 (+3) and is tied for 54th. Junior Bridger Cox (Ardmore, Okla.) is tied for 72nd after posting a total of 152 and junior Blake Martin (Stigler, Okla.) is tied for 79th with a 155. Redshirt-freshman Brad Purcell (Norman, Okla.) rounded out the scores for the individual Sooners with a 160.

Oklahoma will be looking for its first victory of the season when final-round action begins Tuesday at 8 a.m.
