NORMAN, Okla. -- Three members of the University of Oklahoma soccer team, senior Jenny Nichols and juniors Helen Ajufo and Katie Corbitt, were named to ESPN The Magazine's Academic All-District VI third team on Thursday as announced by CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America).

The awards mark the fifth consecutive season that at least one Sooner was named to the Academic All-District team and in addition, the three-member total is a program best.

Nichols and Corbitt, both two-time Academic All-Big 12 honorees, collected the first district accolade of their careers while Ajufo was selected for the second straight year.  Ajufo was a second team Academic All-District member in 2006 and also has been named to the Academic All-Big 12 teams in each of the last two seasons.  She is also one of three Sooners in program history to be named to the team in two separate seasons.

Nichols recently completed her collegiate career as a four-year starter as the Sooners' goalkeeper and recorded the second most shutouts by a Sooner in a career with 16.  Ajufo and Corbitt are three-year starters on the Sooners' defense.

To be eligible, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director.
