NORMAN, Okla. -- The 2011 women’s tennis fall tournament schedule was announced Monday by the University of Oklahoma Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletic Programs Joe Castiglione and head coach David Mullins.

The Sooners open the fall season with the second annual Sooner Fall Invitational on Sept. 16-18, at the Headington Family Tennis Center in Norman.

“I am really looking forward to this weekend and getting the fall season under way,” Mullins said. “We have not had a lot of time to prepare, but the team was very productive during this offseason and they are ready to play.”

The 2011 Sooner Fall Invitational will feature players from Tulsa, Texas-Arlington, SMU, Arkansas-Little Rock, North Texas, Texas Tech, Armstrong Atlantic and Abilene Christian.

OU heads to Evanston, Ill., for the Wildcat Invitational on Sept. 30-Oct. 2 hosted by Northwestern.   This year marks the Sooners’ fourth-straight appearance at the Wildcat Invitational, which features players from some of the top programs in the country including Northwestern and Notre Dame.

The Sooners will compete for their third-straight ITA Central Region doubles title on Oct. 20-24 in Tulsa, Okla., at the 2011 ITA Central Region Championships hosted by TU.

OU will close the fall season with a trip to South Bend, Indiana, for the Notre Dame Invitational.
