NORMAN, Okla. -- Oklahoma head women's golf coach Veronique Drouin released her team's 2011-12 schedule today, a competitive slate that features four fall tournaments and at least five spring events.

The Sooners, who are coming off one of their most successful seasons in program history, will be stepping it up a notch this season in terms of tournament caliber, according to Drouin.

"We have a very challenging schedule this year and we're looking forward to playing against great fields," said Drouin, who is beginning her third season at OU. "Our schedule is getting stronger each year and it shows us that we've been working hard. I'm really excited for all of our girls to return to campus and for the season to begin."

Oklahoma opens its fall schedule Sept. 11-13 at The "Mo"Morial, hosted by Texas A&M in Bryan, Texas, and will follow with an appearance at the Golfweek Invitational in Aspen, Colo., Sept. 19-21.

After nearly a month-long break, the Sooners will host the Susie Maxwell Berning Classic Oct. 16-18 at the Jimmie Austin OU Golf Club. This will mark the 33rd year for the near-annual event in Norman. OU will close out the fall campaign the following week (Oct. 24-26) at the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown in Boulder Creek, Nev.

Drouin's squad is scheduled to begin the spring campaign Feb. 13-15 at the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge, hosted by Ohio State University and to be played in Palos Verdes, Calif. Other spring events include the Central District Invitational (Feb. 20-21 in Parrish, Fla.), the 2012 Clover Cup (March 16-18 in Mesa, Ariz.) and the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic (March 30-April 1).

The 2012 postseason will start April 27-29 with the Big 12 Championship in Lawrence, Kan. NCAA Regionals will be held May 6-8 at three different sites and the NCAA Championship will take place May 18-21 at Vanderbilt Legends Club in Franklin, Tenn.

"With only one senior leading the way this year we're going to be fairly young again," said Drouin. "But I expect the girls to come back ready to get the season started. Most of them have been playing summer tournaments and, after finishing 11th at NCAA Regionals last year, I think we all want more."

The Sooners, who recorded eight top-five finishes in their 11 events in 2010-11, return six of the seven golfers who competed in more than one tournament, including sophomore Chirapat "Ja" Jao-Javanil, who registered a school-record 73.82 strokes per round as a freshman.
