This week's installment focuses on OU's win over No. 10 Nebraska and Oklahoma's No. 1 ranking.
WEEK 5 | FEB. 8, 2010
Good Morning Sooner Fans!
Hope everyone had a great weekend. We had a very successful week inside and outside of the gym since my last update. Tests are starting to begin and everyone is really buckling down on their studies to prevent any kind of stress that may occur.
We started our weekend off with a competition against No. 10 Nebraska and Texas Woman's University. Some of us who don't have classes on Friday were able to enjoy lunch together before the competition.
As far as the meet is concerned, it went fairly well. We had some disappointing moments, followed by some very exciting ones. We were a little flat on bars and beam, which was frustrating because those were the two events that we have been focusing on the details. However, the vault and floor rotations were INCREDIBLE!! We were able to pull out season highs on both of those events. It was very encouraging to come back like that on floor after a disappointing beam rotation.
On Saturday, we started our day off with treatment and then headed to the OU/Texas basketball game. Watching the halftime time show brought tears to our eyes. Toby Keith performed his latest hit in memory of Wayman Tisdale. It was an awesome time and it was great to see OU come out with a win over a top-10 rival.
We ended our night by attending a Haiti Fundraising Benefit at the field house. We were able to meet some incredible individuals. It was great to see the campus come together and support such a wonderful cause!
We got back in to the gym yesterday and really took some time to talk about our goals and really begin our push towards the Big 12 Championship and NCAA's. We are currently ranked No. 1 in the country, which is a huge milestone for our program. At the same time, we also understand all of the work that we must continue to put in if we are going to reach our season goals. We're still a long ways off from being the team we know we are capable of becoming and are trying to improve week-by-week.
We look forward to the great week ahead and hope to see everyone at the “Beauty in the Beast” competition on Friday.
