NORMAN, Okla.-- In its first tournament of the season, the Oklahoma women's golf team is in second place at the Badger Invitational in Madison, Wis., after shooting a 622 (+46) during the first two rounds of play Sunday. The Sooners trail leader Indiana by just two strokes and are ahead of third-place Louisville by four shots.

Two Sooners are in the top 10 with only one round remaining. Junior Kelly Jacques led OU with a 152 (+8) Sunday and is in sixth place, six strokes behind leader Michelle Regan of Kansas State. Jacques carded rounds of 74 (+2) and 78 (+6). Sophomore Staci Smoot is tied for eighth place after shooting rounds of 77 (+5) and 78 (+6).  Smoot is at +11.

"Kelly did really well," said OU head coach Carol Ludvigson. "It didn't show in the second round but she was two over going into her last hole and then she ended up taking an eight on the (par 4) 18th."

It will be very advantageous for us tomorrow. I'm excited. We hung in and worked hard today. I think we can win this thing."
