NORMAN, Okla. – The University of Oklahoma women’s golf team shot a 305 (+13) Sunday in the final round of the 18-team Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational in Albuquerque, N.M., hosted by the University of New Mexico.  The Sooners finished in 15th place with a three-round total of 914 (+38) at the par-73, 6,187-yard University of New Mexico Championship Golf Course.

Pepperdine took the team title with an 859 (-17), and was followed by tournament host New Mexico in second at 866 (-10).  UNLV and TCU tied for third at 883 (+7).  Oregon’s Kendra Little won individual medalist honors with a three-round 207 (-12).

After shooting a 78 in round one and a 77 in round two, sophomore Brooke Collins turned in her best score of the tournament on Sunday with a 1-over 74.  Collins carded four birdies on her final 18 to finish tied for 54th place with a 229 (+10).

In her debut collegiate event, freshman Taylor Schmidt also recorded four birdies during the final round to card a 3-over 76.  She tied for 58th place with a three-round score of 230 (+11).

“Ellen had another solid tournament and is emerging as this year’s team leader,” OU head coach Veronique Drouin said Sunday.  “It was also nice to see Brooke and Taylor step up in the final round.”

“We have a week and a half before the next tournament,” Drouin said.  “We will be reassessing everyone’s game this week and get our games ready for the next tournament.”
