NORMAN, Okla. - The University of Oklahoma women's gymnastics team boasts its first Big 12 Gymnast of the Week recipient. Redshirt freshman Leticia Ishii of Sao Paulo, Brazil, earned the honor for the first time in her collegiate career.

Ishii won the award after claiming the all-around title, the first of her career, to lead the Sooners to victory over Illinois-Chicago last Saturday. Ishii scored a 39.100 in the all-around and posted career-highs in every event with second-place finishes on vault (9.825), floor exercise (9.800) and a third-place finishes on bars (9.725) and beam (9.750).

Ishii has finished in the top three in the all-around, vault, bars and floor in the last two competitions. Also a standout in the classroom, she was one of four Sooners to be named an Academic All-American last season carrying a 4.0 grade point average.
