NORMAN, Okla. - University of Oklahoma junior Ellen Mueller shot a 1-over-par 73 in her NCAA Women's Golf Championships debut in Wilmington, N.C., Tuesday and stands in a tie for 30th place out of 126 competitors at the 6,368-yard Country Club of Landfall.
Mueller, representing the Sooners individually, started on hole No. 10 and found herself at +3 through the first seven holes.  The junior quickly battled back by recording birdies on three of the next four holes (17, 18 and 2).  She finished with pars on holes 3 through 8 before bogeying No. 9.
"Although I left a couple shots out there, I'm pleased with where I'm sitting after the first round," said Mueller. "As the week goes on, I need to stay patient with my putting since these greens are getting faster and firmer."

OU head coach Veronique Drouin hinted that the best is yet to come for Mueller.
"As the round went on, she seemed more comfortable out there," said Drouin.  "She has a lot of golf left.  She's making a couple swing adjustments this afternoon and she'll be ready to go tomorrow."
