From Sand to Snowflakes

Throughout the season, OU junior Haley DeProspero will give OU gymnastics fans a glimpse into life on the road for the Sooner squad. This week's installment details the Sooners trip to Mount Pleasant, Mich., to take on the Central Michigan Chippewas.

Hello again! I wanted to check in and bring everyone up to speed since our last competition.

The meet in Cancun went well. We started off a little rough on vault, but we picked it up on bars (six-for-six routines hit) and the beam team was absolutely stellar! Everyone rocked and we took home the top six spots on beam. It was so much fun to go home with the win in our first competition of the year.

After the meet we were able to get up the next morning and do whatever we wanted to. It was a welcome change from life in the gym. We had all day Saturday to hang out, shop and get some sun.

We took lots of pictures and survived the waves and rocks -- well, everyone except Kristin (Smith). She's fine now, just a few minor scrapes that we had some laughs about. We had such a great time.

Needless to say, we're not in Cancun anymore. Our next trip has taken us to Mount Pleasant, Mich., where it is 30 degrees outside and snowing pretty hard (a far cry from the 80-degree days and sun from last week.

We just had a great dinner and are about to have our pre-meet team meeting. We are getting pumped for tomorrow and want to show everyone what we Sooners can do!

Until next time -

Boomer Sooner!
