IRVING, Texas -- After two electric performances at home, Oklahoma's Morgan Hook was selected at the Phillips 66 Big 12 Women's Basketball Freshman of the Week, the conference office announced Monday.
Hook averaged 22.5 points and made 12 of 16 (75 percent) 3-point attempts while leading the Sooners to two victories. Hook made 15 of her 20 field goals (75 percent) had four rebounds, three assists and just two turnovers during her time on the court. She accounted for 31 percent of OU's total scoring in the two victories.
On Sunday against New Mexico, Hook scored the go-ahead layup with 5.2 seconds remaining and, seconds later, sealed a 63-60 victory with two free throws to help the Sooners extend their home winning streak against unranked non-conference opponents to 39 games.
Hook totaled 19 points after hitting six of nine field goal attempts, including five of eight beyond the arc, in the game that featured 17 lead changes and 11 tie scores.
Hook scored a career-high 26 points to lead OU's 84-57 rout of Stephen F. Austin last Wedenesday. As the Sooners struggled, shooting just 2-for-16 to open the game, Hook came off the bench and made seven consecutive 3-pointers while scoring half of the team's 42 first-half points. In her 15 second-half minutes, she added three rebounds and two assists while completing a defense that allowed just five field goals.
Texas A&M's Danielle Adams was voted as the Big 12 Player of the Week following career-best performances in three wins last week.
Hook is the third Sooner honored by the Big 12 this season. Danielle Robinson was the season's first player of the week and Aaryn Ellenberg was last week's freshman of the week.
The Lowell, Ark., native takes her team to her backyard for OU's next game against Arkansas in Fayetteville on Sunday, Dec. 19. The game will be televised on the Sooner Sports Network at 5 p.m.
