Women's Tennis Falls To No. 56 Kansas, 6-3

LAWRENCE, Kan. - The University of Oklahoma women's tennis team fell, 6-3, to the 56th-ranked University of Kansas on Saturday at the Robinson Tennis Courts. The match was delayed an hour because of rain. With the loss the Sooners dropped to 7-9 overall and 0-5 in the Big 12 Conference, while the Jayhawks improved to 10-6 overall and 3-1 in the league with the victory.

OU picked up win in the top two singles slots as well as at the No. 1 doubles position. Viviana Mracnova, the Sooners' No. 1 singles player, defeated Brooke Chiller in straight sets, 6-2, 6-0, while Angela Stroup won a three-set match over KU's Cheryl Mallaiah, 7-5, 6-7 and 6-2, at No. 2 singles. Mracnova and Stroup later paired up to win Oklahoma's third team point in the No. 1 doubles match by defeating Chiller and Mallaiah, 8-4.

The Sooners will play at Kansas State next Saturday, April 8, at 10 a.m. in Manhattan, Kan.
