NORMAN, Okla. – Freshman Keilani Ricketts threw a perfect game as the University of Oklahoma softball team defeated Western Oklahoma 13-0 to advance to Sunday’s championship game of the 2009 Fall Festival.
Ricketts retired every batter she faced, striking out nine Western Oklahoma hitters on the afternoon. The Pioneers failed to hit a single ball to the outfield thanks to the dominant pitching of Ricketts and the aggressiveness of the Sooner infield defense.
Oklahoma has yet to give up a run in their first four games of the Fall Festival.
Offensively, the Sooners scored 13 runs on 15 hits. Senior Amber Flores hit her fourth home run of the tournament, going 3-for-3 on the day with three RBI and three runs scored.
Sophomore Evan Sallis and freshman Jessica Shults thrived at the top of the batting order, each reaching base and scoring in all three of their at-bats.
The Sooners play in the Fall Festival championship Sunday afternoon at 1:15 CT at the OU Softball Complex.
