OU Women's Gymnastics Signs First Recruit For 2002 Season

NORMAN, Okla. -- The University of Oklahoma women's gymnastics program signed its first recruit for the 2002 season when the Sooners landed Norman native Allison Landis. The announcement of Landis also marked the initial signee for Co-Head Coach Steve Nunno.

Landis garnered third-place finishes in the all-around at both the 2000 U.S. Classic/National GymFest (Tulsa, Okla.) and the 2000 American Challenge (Reno, Nev.).

Landis received the presitigious Shannon Miller Award for 2000, given annually to the outstanding gymnast from the state of Oklahoma. She is also a two-year member of the the National Elite training team.

Landis, a senior at Norman North High School, has trained at Bart Conner's Gym in Norman since 1995. Her brother, Josh, is a sophomore on the Oklahoma men's gymnastics team.

"Allison Landis is one of the most accomplished gymnasts ever to come out of the state of Oklahoma," said Nunno. "We've very proud and excited to have her become a part of our growing tradition at OU."
