NORMAN, Okla. - The University of Oklahoma women's gymnastics team, ranked ninth nationally, will travel to Cedar City, Utah, next Monday, March 6, to meet Southern Utah. Competition is set to begin at 7 p.m. Oklahoma enters the contest with a season record of 10-1, while MU posts a record of 4-9.
After defeating Southern Utah, 193.325-191.425 last season in Norman, Okla., OU looks to move the OU/SUU series to 4-0. Oklahoma's Amber McCracken, ranked 10th nationally in the all-around, won the all-around title with a score 39.200 in their last meeting. McCracken also posted second or third place finishes in the all events. Kym Franklin was the only Thunderbird gymnast to place in an event's top three. Franklin finished third in the floor exercise, tying McCracken with a score 9.850.
Southern Utah picked up their last victory Tuesday against Brigham Young, 194.425-194.250. SUU set three team school records in the uneven bars, balance beam and all-around in this meeting. Thunderbird Caycee Overstreet led the team with an all-around score of 38.950.
