Final Stats

Dionnah Jackson

(On the Sooners' rebounding)
"We needed to rebound and stop them from getting second shots. That is what we talked about when we came into the locker room. We came in and Coach (Sherri Coale) told us that we needed to get boards and block them out, put a body on them and that is what we tried to do."

(On the OU senior leadership)
"We have some great senior leadership. It was very emotional. We have six seniors leaving and they are the heart of our team. It was very hard ending the season like this, but I wouldn't want to end it with any other team."

(On what Jackson will take away)
"I learned a lot having the pleasure of working with Jamie (Talbert) and Caton (Hill) - even though I get another year with Caton - Stacey Dales, Rosalind Ross, LaNeishea Caufield, Shannon Selmon. You take away a lot because they give a lot to this team. Hard work, dedication, desire and I can't but take something away from that. It will be portrayed next year. Everything that I have learned from them will be portrayed next year."

Jamie Talbert

(On Coach Sherri Coale's halftime comments)
"She said we were in good position and we needed to go right at them in the second half and get to the rim and just exploit their weaknesses on defense like they were (exploiting) ours. She said we had to execute our plays and do what we usually do. But she was emphasizing rebounding because they killed us on the boards in the first half."

(On Coale's post-game comments)
"She said she could be happier if we would have won, but she couldn't be prouder. Basically she just said she was going to be sad anyway because it is over for us, but she expects great things for their returners. She said how proud she was and how much she enjoyed the season."

(On the seniors' last game)
"We were going to be emotional anyway because the six of us are done playing with these people and the hardest thing about it all is knowing that you are not going to put this uniform on. We fought hard and we did some really good things. Connecticut is just good."

(On not giving up late in the game)
"Everyone on our teams is fighters. We are not going to give up. That is just how our whole season has been. We fought the whole time. Tonight was no different for us. We felt like we were right there and they would do something when we messed up to capitalize on it. That just hurt us down the stretch."

Caton Hill

(On the physical play)
"We are undersized, obviously, and they start three posts. Swinn (Cash) is an agile post -- that is pretty much what she is. Neither Jamie (Talbert) nor I are really true posts, and we don't match up well with that, but I think we played with them until the end and we couldn't capitalize on the opportunities we had. Sometimes the ball doesn't fall."

(On the defense played against her)
"They played really good defense on me. Not letting me get a good look at the ball posting up and I'm sure Jamie had the same. They are big bodies; very athletic and they play hard. I've played them before and it is just a knock down, drag out fight. They won a lot of the times."

(On the second chance points)
"They are more athletic and they jumped over us half the time. The refs were letting us play and so if we had position they were just jumping over us. They were getting offensive rebounds and we tried our best to keep them off the boards."

(On this game versus last game)
"We played much better (this time). Our passing and being strong with the ball was 10 times better than in December. We played with them this whole game. It may have been 12 or 13 (points), but we got it to six. If we could have just blown past that six-point barrier, it would have been a whole different ballgame."

Shannon Selmon

(On working the game plan)
"We needed to keep them off the boards. That was a huge part of our game plan. We can't let them have the second shots and I don't think we did that as well as we needed to in the first half. In the second half, they just made big shots and made big plays down the stretch when we were trying to make our runs."

(On the Final Four as a preseason goal)
"That's been our vision. When we sat down in the preseason, we set goals for ourselves. We said we wanted to be in the Final Four. We were here preseason for a game and we came to the Alamodome and we saw where our locker room would be. We saw what the city was like and I think it is something that has been on our minds since day one. That is important as a team, or in any area of life, that you recognize what your goal is and everyday you go about your business of getting yourself closer to that goal. That's what we did all year."
