Continuing to accomplish awards with just one season as a Sooner, Greg Dobbs added American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) and Baseball America second-team All-American honors to his ledger, bringing his selection total to four teams. NCBWA (National College Baseball Writers Assocation) and Collegiate Baseball were the first two to crown Dobbs second-team all-american.

Dobbs' 2001 campaign, his lone as Sooner, included Big 12 first-team and Newcomer of the Year honors, Phillips Big 12 All-Tournament team selection, Dallas Morning News Big 12 first-team and Transfer of the Year accolades and an ABCA first-team Midwest All-Region pick.

During the year, Dobbs won the NCBWA National Player of the Week as well as Big 12 Player of the Week the day before after batting .625 and hitting a home run in four consecutive games during the seven-day period.

The Moreno Valley, Calif. native finished the season tied for 14th nationally in batting average (.428) and tied for 18th in doubles (25) while starting all 59 games for Oklahoma.

Dobbs, a free-agent contract signee, is playing in the Seattle Mariners minor league system for the Everette AquaSox of Class A (short season).
