IRVING, Texas – Five Sooners were named to the 2010 Academic All-Big 12 Gymnastics Team, all first-team members, the conference announced Tuesday.
Megan Ferguson (journalism – broadcast and electronic media), Natasha Kelley (business administration), Kayla Nowak (accounting), Natalie Ratcliff (early childhood education) and Sara Stone (business) all earned first-team accolades, marking the fifth-straight year that OU has had at least four first-team selections for the academic honor.
Ratcliff earned the first-team honor for the third-consecutive season, while Ferguson and Stone added their second-straight first-team selections.
Kelley earned her first, first-team honor after being named to the Academic All-Big 12 second team in 2010.
The Sooners have had 32 total selections for Academic All-Big 12 in head coach K.J. Kindler’s five years at OU, including 25 first-team members.

Nominated by each institution’s director of student-athlete support services and the communications offices, the gymnastics academic all-league squad consisted of 18 first team members combined with four on the second team.
First team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA, and the second team are those who have a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA.
To qualify student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 60 percent of her team’s scheduled contests.
Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.
The Sooners turn their eyes to the 2011 postseason as OU heads to Columbia, Mo., to compete for its fourth-straight Big 12 title on Saturday, March 19 at 2 p.m.
