TOLEDO, Ohio -- After beginning the final round tied for seventh place, the 23rd-ranked University of Oklahoma men's golf team fired the lowest round of the day to finish in second place at the Inverness Intercollegiate Invitational in Toledo, Ohio. The Sooners registered a score of 294 today to finish ahead of 13th-ranked TCU by two strokes. The Horned Frogs entered the meet on a high as they won the Ridges Intercollegiate a week ago. OU also finished nine shots ahead of 20th-ranked Kent State. South Carolina held on to the top spot to take home the team championship.

Freshman Martin Flores was solid as he led the Sooners throughout the tournament. Flores posted the first top-10 finish of his college career, tying for 10th with an overall score of 223 (+10). The freshman from Mansfield, Texas, finished the tournament 10 shots off the lead.

Senior Kelsey Cline rebounded from a tough second round to shoot the lowest score for the Sooners on the day. Cline's round of 72 and his overall score of 225 (+12) propelled him to a tie for 19th. It was Cline's first top-20 finish since he tied for 11th at the Morris Williams Intercollegiate last Spring. Tied with Cline for 19th-place was OU sophomore Matt Cohn, who recorded his second top-20 finish of the season after firing a final-round score of 73.

Sophomores Chris Cureton and Parker Foster both shot rounds of 76 on the final day of competition. Cureton finished three shots behind Cline and Cohn to place 27th while Foster tied for 37th overall.

Next up, the Sooners will take a week off before traveling to Chicago, Ill., to compete in the 2000 Windon Memorial, which is scheduled to take place on Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 2-3.
