The No. 16 Oklahoma women’s golf team is tied with California and Purdue for seventh after one round at the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational in Austin, Texas. The Sooners recorded a 321 (+33) and trail leader and host Texas by 12 strokes.
The 18-team field, featuring nine top-25 teams, is playing at the 6,247-yard, par-72 Hills Country Club.
Senior Lisa Meldrum is leading the Sooners after first-round action and is tied for fourth after carding a three-over-par 75 while sophomore Amparo Gala recorded a first-round 78 (+5) and is tied for 12th. Senior Hope Edge shot an 81 (+9) and is tied for 31st after round one.
Junior Emily Milberger is tied for 72nd after recording an 87 (+15) while Jaclyn Stelzer is tied for 79th with 89 (+17) total strokes. Freshman Alana Donaldson, who is competing as an individual for the Sooners, did not play due to an illness. Donaldson is expected to compete in Monday's round.
