The OU soccer team (1-12 overall, 0-4 Big 12) was blanked 2-0 by No. 22 Missouri (9-3, 4-1) on Friday at the OU Soccer Complex.
Missouri struck first at the 7:21 mark with Alysha Bonnick's fifth goal of the year as the ball got past senior goalkeeper Traci Dickenson, who made her first start in goal on Friday.
The Tigers increased the advantage to two goals in the 12th minute on their third corner kick of the first half. Michelle Collins connected on the set piece as the Tigers set a school record with 12 corners in the game.
Besides the change with Dickenson in goal, the Sooners were without starting forward Lauren Alkek, who was forced to sit out Friday's game after receiving two yellow cards in last Sunday's game at Texas A&M.
"It was an incredible team effort," said OU Head Coach Nicole Nelson. "We had to make a lot of changes in our lineup. This is the most fight I have seen in this team yet, this year. I am as proud as you can be with a loss."
In its fourth game against a ranked opponent, OU had several offensive opportunities in the game, tallying six shots in the first half and eight more in the final 45 minutes. The Sooners also recorded five corner kicks.
Sophomore Whitney Palmer led the charge with four shots, while junior Ashley Farrand and freshman Kelsey Kraft each added two.
In her first appearance in goal this season, Dickenson made six saves after facing 23 shots from the Tigers' offense.
Friday's win was the seventh in the series for Missouri and the second consecutive. The Tigers lead 7-4-1 all-time over the Sooners.
The Sooners return to action on Sunday in search of their first Big 12 win to host Kansas (8-5, 2-3) at 1 p.m. The Jayhawks lost 3-2 in overtime at No. 13 Oklahoma State on Friday.
