GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- The University of Oklahoma women's gymnastics team lost its second consecutive meet to a top 10 team Friday against No. 7 Florida, 195.950-192.600, in Gainesville.
The ninth-ranked Sooners (8-3) were led by junior Mariana Goncalves, who won the floor exercise with a personal-high 9.925. Goncalves, who was the lone Sooner to win an event, finished second in the all-around (39.275).
The Gators won behind the strength of Kara Waterhouse. The freshman won the all-around, uneven parallel bars, balance beam, and tied for first on the vault. The other two first-place finishers on vault were Lindsey Miner and Teal Chiabotti, both from Florida.
Another strong OU showing came from Alison Mayberry, who finished third on the balance beam with a 9.800.
Oklahoma finishes up its long road trip next Friday against Iowa State in Ames. After the Cyclone meet, the Sooners host Big 12 foe Missouri on Feb. 25 at 7 p.m. at the Lloyd Noble Center in Norman.
