NORMAN, Okla. -- Steven Pledger rubbed his face, cleared his throat and told the truth.

"Yeah, very frustrating," he said of Oklahoma's 64-55 victory against Texas Tech Tuesday night at Lloyd Noble Center.

The Sooners won. They held on. They survived.

And Pledger wasn't the only one with weary eyes who was exhaling slowly and loudly after the Sooners seemingly sleep-walked for much of Tuesday before coming to life in the final 4:07 to distance themselves from pesky Tech.

"A good win," Sooner coach Lon Kruger said. "Not necessarily pretty, but a good win. Any time you can win a game it reinforces a lot of good stuff."

Probably not many would consider OU's win full of "good stuff," but the last 4 minutes were certainly notable.

OU turned a 48-47 lead into a 56-48 lead in the next 2:30 thanks to timely defense and Romero Osby's emergence.

After Tech missed a layup that would have put the Red Raiders ahead, Osby made a layup for a three-point lead with 3:36 to go. He added a block and another dunk and with 1:30 to play the lead was eight.

Complete Recap: OU 64, Texas Tech 55

"I feel like we were starting to get a little momentum," Osby said. "We kind of got the crowd energized and it kind of got us seeing the ball go through the basket. It ended up going our way."

It went OU's way when most of the night it seemed to be a struggle. OU shot just 38 percent a game after shooting 55 percent against Kansas State. OU was also outrebounded for the second game in a row.

"We'll learn from it," Kruger said. "In this league, the wins are tough to come by."

Osby finished with 15 points and a team-high eight rebounds. Pledger had 17 points and Andrew Fitzgerald had 13 points. Meanwhile, the Sooners were helped out by 21 Texas Tech turnovers. The Red Raiders are 0-5 in the Big 12 and 7-10 overall.

"We had so many opportunities," Tech coach Billy Gillispie said. "We had so many chances to win. We didn't finish."

OU is back in action at 3 p.m. Saturday against Texas A&M in College Station, Texas. The Sooners return home on Jan. 24 against Baylor. Tip is scheduled for 7 p.m.
