Oklahoma 69, Texas Tech 64
Coach Kelvin Sampson
On Coach Knight:
"Coach Knight doesn't get accolades. Texas Tech is about as good of a coached team as you are going to see. They really play hard and we knew that."
On Hollis Price making the three free throws late:
"When he went to the free throw line to shoot the three free throws, the first thing that went through my mind was when he was a true freshman and we were playing Missouri in Kansas City. He went to the line in that game to shoot a one and one. There is not a kid in this world that I would rather have at the line shooting those free throws. He made them as a freshman and he made them as a senior."
On Hollis Price's buzzer beater:
"If Chavis made the last free throw I didn't want to call a timeout. We wanted Hollis to catch the ball with momentum going to the basket. I told him if they run at you early, pitch it. If they don't run at you, take it and score. Hollis is about as good as it gets."
On the significance of the win
"This was a hard fought win. This is one of those games we will be talking about 10 years from now."
Freshman Kevin Bookout
On coming back from his injury in the first half:
"I just got hit on my knee and luckily the Lord was with me. It was pretty scary but I was able to come back in the game and do what I could to help our team."
On his emergence since the Oklahoma State game:
"That was kind of my break out game and I have been playing with a lot of confidence since. It is just great that we were able to pull out this game tonight."
Senior Hollis Price
On the buzzer beater:
"Coach drew up a play on the sidelines and he wanted Kevin to take the ball out quickly and get it to me so I could use my speed. That's what happened. Kevin made a great pass. I almost slipped and fell, but I kept my balance and hit the shot."
On his play after suffering contusion on his cheek:
"There wasn't really a difference. My vision was a little blurry. Our guys did a great job of finding me. Ebi and Quannas did a great job of finding a lot of people tonight. Our defense down the stretch was huge. Johnnie Gilbert did a great job on (Kasib) Powell."
Head Coach Bob Knight
On the game:
"I thought if you're a basketball fan you have to admire the kids on both teams. We made the plays we had to, to stay in the game. We got back in it and made a couple of plays. Price just made a tremendous play. We tried to contain him. During the timeout we told our kids that four seconds was enough time to get a shot off. He is just so hard to contain.
On the overtime:
"We missed the front end of the one and one, that would have cut it to one. We played hard and both teams played well defensively. There were a lot of offensive players in this game who didn't have a whole hell of a lot of points. Points were hard to come by in this game."
