NORMAN, Okla. - The Oklahoma men's tennis team is off to a successful 4-1 start early in the season. However, the Sooners have proven themselves in the classroom as well. OU placed six players on the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll for the 2001 fall semester.

Freshman Alex Nomicos (Targoviste, Romania) earned a perfect 4.00 grade point average to lead the team. Other members of the honor roll include junior Tobias Kronlein (Askim, Sweden), junior Chris Mitchell (Tulsa, Okla.), and freshman Matt Long (Fort Worth, Texas), Matt Lopez (Enid, Okla.) and Brad Prigmore (Wichita Falls, Texas).

Student-athletes must maintain at least a 3.00 GPA for the semester to be recognized on the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll.

Oklahoma returns to action on Friday, Feb. 22, against Texas-Arlington. Match time is set for 1 p.m. at the UTA Tennis Center.
