Oklahoma improves to 6-0 on the young season with the 76-60 victory over Texas Christian (2-2). OU continues to have its best start during Sherri Coale's coaching tenure.
Oklahoma now holds a seven-game win streak against the Lady Frogs, and an 8-1 all-time series lead. During the Sooners' seven-game win steak, the average OU margin of victory is 27.8 points.
The Sooners are now 19-6 all-time in home openers (4-2 during the Coale coaching era). OU has now won four consecutive home openers.
For the sixth consecutive game, OU had a starting lineup of Stacey Dales, LaNeishea Caufield, Caton Hill, Rosalind Ross and Jamie Talbert.
With her season-high five assists tonight, senior Stacey Dales became OU's all-time assists leader in tonight's game. She passed Sharee Mitchum's 601 career assists (1992-95).
Dales also became the Big 12 Conference's all-time assists leader tonight, passing Texas Tech's Melinda Schmucker, who dished out 603 assists from 1997-2000.
Dales scored 14 points in the first half on 5-for-5 field goal and 3-for-4 free throw shooting. Before tonight, her previous high scoring game was 19 points, set against Tulsa on Nov. 18.
Dales grabbed eight first-half rebounds. In one half, she broke her high rebounding game of the year (seven), also against the Golden Hurricane on Nov. 18. She finished with 11 boards.
With 21 points and 11 rebounds, Dales nothced OU's second double-double of the season (Rosalind Ross vs. Purdue, Nov. 11). It was the 10th double-double of her Sooner career.
OU built a 41-29 halftime lead behind 48.3% shooting from the field and by holding the Lady Frogs to just 33.3% shooting in the opening stanza.
TCU, the defending WAC champions, was led by Grace Gantt, who scored 14 points in 15 minutes of play. Beginning this season, the Lady Frogs will now compete in Conference USA.
TCU's bench outscored Oklahoma's reserves 27-6.
In her first game of the season after battling a foot injury, senior Shannon Selmon scored two points and grabbed three boards in 13 minutes of play.
True freshman Dionnah Jackson (St. Louis, Mo.) dished out three assists in tonight's game. She is currently eighth in the Big 12 conference with 3.7 assists per game.
Ross' five assists in tonight's game tied a career high, last set against Iowa State on March 10, 2001.
Caufield scored 24 points in tonight's game, tying her season-high set against Tulsa on Nov. 18. She scored 20+ points in a game for the 29th time in her career and her effort was the sixth time a Sooner has gone over 20 points in a game this season. Dales' 21 points marked the seventh Sooner to score 20+.
Caufield's five steals were a season-high for the Defensive All-American.
OU held a 15-6 edge in assists in tonight's contest.
On the season, OU is averaging 12.6 steals per game.
OU forced 32 TCU turnovers in tonight's game.
