Oklahoma 91, Illinois 69
Lloyd Noble Center - Norman, Okla.

Head Coach Sherri Coale

On Oklahoma's play
"I'm really, really proud of our performance today. I though the first half we were exceptional, in almost every phase of the game. Take away about three or four (missed) lay-ups and just wide-open looks, it was a pretty solid first half. I thought we defended them well. I thought they shot the ball very well and we go into halftime with a huge lead because our defense was able to create a lot of turnovers. We were able to get the game up and down in transition and we knew going in that we needed to run that it needed to be a 94-foot game."

On Oklahoma's defense
"We really made them fun their offense farther away from the basket than they wanted to. Made them make passes that they really didn't want to make, made them take shots that they didn't want to take. It looked like they were on their heels a little bit and I think that was our speed and our aggression."

Guard Stacey Dales

On Oklahoma's early second half struggles
"We knew that we had to have the tempo carry over from the first half and we're still trying to figure out how to do that, that's no secret. We've figured out how to get through it and we got through it. You can't really make those consecutive turnovers and expect to dominate. We understand that but we battled through it like I said and came back out to a 21-22 point lead, so everyone did a great job."

Forward Caton Hill

On Illinois height advantage
"Well, they had the height advantage, but we have four perimeter players that can shoot. When we put four people out, that means that two 6-2 plus defenders are out on the perimeter. That opens up back cuts, for Neishea (Caufield) finishing. I think that when you play us, that's more of an advantage on the offensive, we really have to concentrate on blocking out. But, when it comes to defending us, I think it's an advantage for us."

Illinois Head Coach Theresa Grentz
"Oklahoma played very well. They were extremely well-coached and very unselfish on the court. It was a fun atmosphere to play in. I just wish we could have played better today."
