NORMAN, Okla.  - The University of Oklahoma announced on Wednesday that Friday's women's gymnastics meet featuring No. 2 Oklahoma and No. 1 Alabama will be televised live at 7 p.m. (CT) via the Sooner Sports Network on Cox Channel 7 in Oklahoma City and Cox Channel 3 in Tulsa.  It marks the first time in program history that an OU gymnastics meet has been televised live.

"We are thrilled about the opportunity to showcase such a high-profile event to our fans around the state of Oklahoma," said head coach K.J. Kindler.  "The meet features a pair of squads that have proven themselves over the first half of the season as two of the premier teams in women's gymnastics.  We hope that all Sooner fans can come out and create a home court advantage."

Meet commentators Bart Conner and Jenny Rowland will have the call.  Conner, OU's first Nissen-Emery Award winner in 1981, was a seven-time conference champion and 14-time All-American for the Sooners. He also won three national championships and was named co-recipient of the Big Eight Conference "Male Athlete of the Year" award in 1981. OU also claimed back-to-back NCAA Championships during that span, winning titles in 1977 and 1978. Conner was a member of three Olympic teams (1976, '80, '84) and won two gold medals at the 1984 Games in Los Angeles.

Rowland was an assistant coach for the OU women's gymnastics program from 2002-06 and has also earned Elite and Brevet level judging credentials.  A first-team All-America honoree at Arizona State in 1993, Rowland later earned a master's degree in health and sport sciences from Oklahoma in 1997.
