NORMAN, Okla. – The University of Oklahoma women’s golf team shot a 306 (+18) on Friday during the first round of the Rebel Intercollegiate in Oxford, Miss.  The Sooners stand in ninth place out of 20 teams with two remaining rounds to be played at the par-72 Ole Miss Golf Course.

Tulane (290) leads the field by two strokes over second-place East Tennessee State (292), four shots over host Mississippi (294) and Missouri (294), and eight strokes over fifth-place Texas A&M (298).  Tulane's Linn Gustafsson shot a 2-under-par 70 and paces the 111 individual competitors.

Edmond, Okla., native Ryanne Elmer, competing for OU in the fifth spot in the lineup, paced the Sooners on Friday with a season-low 75 (+3).  The senior birdied the sixth, seventh and 12th holes, and heads into the Saturday’s second round tied for 23rd place.

Junior Ellen Mueller trails Elmer by one shot with a first-round 76 (+4).  The junior, who has been OU's top finisher in nine of 10 tournaments this year, is tied for 33rd place.

Freshman Taylor Schmidt shot a 77 (+5) on Friday and is tied for 45th place, while senior Andrea Sellmeyer recorded a 78 (+6) en route to a 52nd-place standing.  Freshman Aly Seng carded a first-round 80 (+8) and is in 71st place.

“It was great to see Ryanne play well today.  She made a ton of birdies,” OU head coach Veronique Drouin said.  “We have a lot of golf left and have room to improve.”
Saturday's second round will start at 8 a.m. CT while Sunday's final round will begin at 8:30 a.m.  Live scoring is available at
