NORMAN, Okla. - The third-ranked Oklahoma women's gymnastics team (5-1) is set to take on the No. 2 Georgia Gym Dogs (9-1) on Friday, Feb. 1, in Athens, Ga. Meet time is set for 7 p.m. EST at the Stegeman Coliseum. The meet is sold out and a crowd of close to 11,000 is expected to be in attendance.

Leading the Sooners into one of their toughest meets of the season is senior Mariana Goncalves. She has been named Big 12 Gymnast of the Week for two consecutive weeks after career-high performances in the all-around, vault and floor exercise at Texas Woman's University. Her floor score tied a school record, while she was .250 away from tying the school record in the all-around. The No. 3 ranking Oklahoma carries is the highest ever for a Sooner women's gymnastics team.

"I feel confident in my team going into the meet this weekend," said head coach Steve Nunno. "I think we're focused and looking forward to the challenge. This will probably be the largest crowd ever for an Oklahoma women's gymnastics team."

Georgia's only loss this season came to then-No. 6 Alabama on Jan. 18, in Tuscaloosa. The Gym Dogs' nine victories have come over teams that are now ranked in the top 25, including Nebraska, UCLA (twice), Alabama (Jan. 11), Maryland, Auburn, Florida, Penn State and LSU. UGA won the prestigious Super Six Challenge in its second meet of the year with a score of 196.525.
