NORMAN, Okla. – The ninth-ranked University of Oklahoma wrestling squad (12-2-1, 0-1-1 Big 12) hits the road this week to take on two Big 12 opponents. The Sooners visit the Nebraska Cornhuskers (9-8, 0-1 Big 12) in Lincoln on Thursday, Feb. 4 at 7:30 p.m. CST, and the 17th-ranked Missouri Tigers (7-4, 1-0) on Saturday, Feb. 6 at 7 p.m. CST.

“Our team is really excited for this trip,” head coach Jack Spates said. “We have had two weeks off and we are eager for competition, especially Big 12 competition. The break has allowed us to regroup, refresh and improve and we look forward to this weekend. This should be a good bonding time for our guys and we hopefully will bring back two victories.”

The Sooners hold significant leads over both teams in the all-time series. OU leads Nebraska by a 35-16-1 margin and Missouri by a 39-8-0 mark.

Despite leads in the all-time series against the Big 12 foes, Nebraska owns a three-match winning streak against the Sooners, while the Tigers have topped Oklahoma the past four matchups.

Last season, the Tigers defeated Oklahoma, 18-12, in Norman on Feb. 6. The Cornhuskers then edged OU that same weekend by an 18-15 margin on Feb. 8.

“Right now we are 0-1-1 in the Big 12, with competitive matches against the No. 2 and No. 3 teams in the country,” Spates said. “This is another gauge to see exactly where our program stands.”
