NORMAN, Okla.-- The University of Oklahoma women’s golf team will return to links for the final time this fall at the 2006 Kent Youel Invitational in Kapolei, Hawai'i, Tuesday, Oct. 23-24. The 54-hole tournament will be played on the par-72, 6,139-yard Kapolei Golf Course.
The Sooners will repeat their lineup from last week, starting Kelly Jacques, Kendall Dye, Megan Goodwin, Staci Smoot and Jaclyn Stelzer.
"The team has worked this past week on handling disappointments and I think they have come up with some great team strategies," said OU head coach Carol Ludvigson. "The team is psyched and ready to go. The field here is very competitive and a top-five finish here will boost their confidence."
The 18-team field includes Hawai’i, SMU, Oklahoma, San Francisco, UC Irvine, Idaho, Long Beach State, New Mexico State, Nevada, Coastal Carolina, Southern Illinois, Toledo, Boise State, San Diego State and Cal State Northridge.
"We have done some different things this past week about getting our minds back to where they were a month ago," Ludvigson said. "This will be a good tournament on which to end the fall season."
