November 17, 2004

NORMAN, Okla. -- Sooner Sports Properties and the University of Oklahoma have announced Oklahoma City radio station KOKC 1520 AM will be the new Sooner Sports Network flagship affiliate for OU baseball and softball programming for the 2005 seasons.

KOKC 1520 AM and KRXO 107.7 FM currently serve as the official flagship stations for OU sports to include play-by-play broadcasts of Sooner Football, Men’s Basketball, Women’s Basketball and Sooner Sports Talk Show programming. KOKC will air a schedule of more than 40 Sooner baseball games this year, as well as 10 Sooner Softball broadcasts.

Sooner Sports Properties has also announced the hiring of Chuck Kelly as Sooner Baseball play-by-play commentator, replacing Mike Treps. Kelly, a 1986 University of Oklahoma graduate, owns and operates Metro Sports Communications out of Dallas, Texas, which provides statewide coverage of Texas High School sports. Kelly, who has been in the broadcasting business since 1987 with experience in covering football, basketball and baseball, has been providing CBS/Westwood One Radio updates and reports on OU Football since the 2000 season.

Brian Brinkley will again handle radio play-by-play duties of OU Softball. Brinkley, current sportscaster with Oklahoma City’s KFOR, has been the voice of OU Softball and Women’s Basketball for the past three seasons.

Sooner Sports Properties, a joint venture with Learfield Communications, Renda Broadcasting (KRXO 107.7 FM and KOKC 1520 AM) and Griffin Communications (KWTV Channel 9), is the official multi-media rights holder for the University of Oklahoma athletics.
